Pour leur premier album, Nightwish nous offre un vrai bijou. Dès Elvenpath, la musique et la voix de Tarja (rejointe par celle de Tuomas sur certains titres) nous font pénétrer dans une ambiance unique où les plus belles mélodies se mêlent avec succès aux accords plus métalliques. Elvenpath, Beauty and the Beast, Astral Romance, Tutankhamen sont autant de titres donnant à Nightwish un son fantastique. L’album se clôture par un superbe Lappi (Lapland) en 4 titres (dont un chanté en finnois).
